(API Jack Mills, for 10 years a ser geant with the Shanghai police force, has a plan to defeat the Japanese. Just bomb the Japanese spec tacle factories. "Seventy-five per cent of Japan ese are nearslghtor," he said on ar rival here after retiring from the Shanghai forep. "If the glass fac tories of Japan were destroyed, the nation would go blind." To prove his point, Mills cited examples of what he called In accurate Jupanese bombing In Shanghai and said so far as he knows only one Nipponese flier has tried dive-bombing. CCC Rolls Still Open to Douglas County Youths Civilian conservation corps en rollments arc available for a few more Douglas county applicants during January, according to ad vice received here by Darlow Johnson, administrator of the Douglas county public welfare commission. Single, unemployed, male citizens, between the ages of 17 and 23 years, are eligible for enrollment. Good health and ability to profit by the educational opportunities now being offered are prerequisites for enrollment, it was stated. It is expected that all local en rollecs will be assigned to Ore gon camps, with the exception of skilled men who may later be of- 1 fered the opportunity of accept ing voluntary transfer to other camps In the corps area for spe cial training courses. Further in formation may be obtained at the Oregon state employment service, or at the offices of the Douglas county public welfare commis sion. The rolls will be closed January 31, Mr. Johnson stated. Time Goes On ALBUQUERQUE - An electric clock In the district attorney's of fice stopped. Assistant Custodian B. E.
