So then ns distance must preclude A chump of any meeting. The best that we can do is just To send a word of greeting. Rut In the midst of Christmas joys. We sense a shadow stealing Across our hearts, for from nfar Come voices most appealing. The little waifs from broken honies Heyond the sea are calling. The glee that is their need is quenched Uy Death in forms nppalling. The pleadings of the Prince of Peace. The nations nro ignoring. Their wealth, their all, with count less lives Into War's maelstrom pouring. Rut there will dawn a brighter day. His promise is assuring. From out the purging fires will come A peace that is enduring. On that new- earth, all purged and clean. Sin's wounds will not be scarring. War's crimson stains of human blood Will ncvcimore be marring. Rut mnny blessing yet are ours, We'll find in contemplation. And may the songs of praise arise From firesides of our nation. Among the blessings that we prize, Are old time friends we treasure. So may the joys of Christmas-tide Re theirs in goodly measure.
