THANKSGIVING DANCE TO BE BRILLIANT AFFAIR OF THURSDAY EVENING The largest and most interest ing social event of the month will ho the II. P. V. C. fourteenth an nual Thanksgiving hall at nine- thirty o'clock Thursday evening. November 21st. at the armory, to which the public has been cordial ly Invited to enjoy. Miss lla Laubach and Miss Ina Farnsworth are general chairmen of the affair, which promises to be one of the most interesting and en joyable in many years. Miss Mar garet Johnson Is acting ns chair r man of the decorations. Hilly Jtlack's orchestra will furnish the music for the affair. SADIE HAWKINS PARTY IS ENJOYABLE AFFAIR Tho lliddle high school, keeping Jn thought that its still leap year, had a Sadie Hawkins day the Sth. While this was almost a week late, the students went at It just as en thusiastically as if It had been on Hie 2nd. the real Sadie Hawkins day. The object, as is well known is Tor a girl to catch a boy, but instead of marrying the girl, the hoy only had to lake her to the party, given for that purpose, Fri day night. The students dressed as characters In Lll Abner and after playing a number of games, refreshments were served, follow ed by a volleyball game. AH-NEAH-NIKA GROUP ENJOYS PARTY The Ah-Nenh-Nikn Camp Fire group enjoyed a party Wednesday night at the home of the guar 4 ilinn, Mrs. Malic Johnson. Refresh ments were served to Shirley Par ker. EVERGREEN GRANGE HAS MEETING ON FRIDAY F.vergreen grange met at the hall' Friday night for tho, regular business meeting and annual elec tion of officers. Short agricultural report were given by Ab Kite and Lyle Marsters. It was voted to continue the grange pest hunt during the next year. Evergreen grange leads up to the present time In the county wide grange pest hunt contest with a lead of -223,200 points over the nearest contestant. The next meeting of the home economics club will bo held at the home of Mrs. J. 10. Pickens In Ilnseliurg. The annual bazaar and cooked food sale will be held lu Itoseburg on November 30th. A letter was read from 10. A. Ilrlt ton. county club agent, offering to show- some moving pictures at the grange. Arrangements as to date, etc., were left to the lecturer, Mrs. John Lander. Jr., who will confor with Mr. Hritton. These pictures will bo shown at nn open meeting of the grange with the people of the community and especially the children of the various schools in the community invited to attend. It was decided to change tho meeting night of the grange from Friday to Monday, beginning after the first of Hie year. The following new officers were elected: master, Mrs. II. Cuy Mcliee. wor thy patron, presented a short pro gram consisting of readings by Leona Hill and Margaret Kimmell. Several lovely musical numbers were given by Margaret S. McCee and Gladys Michaels. The Parent-Teachers cluh furnished lunch anil dinner at the school house on election day , with Mrs. Madt'e Standley ami Mrs. Nellie Siel.'e in charge and Mrs. G. It. Moore assisting. Several dollars were realized from the sale of food part of which was spent for two new kettles to he used for prepar ing hot school lunches later in the fall. A plo social was held in October to raise money for hot lunches which netted thirteen dollars. This with donations irom parents and patrons of tho district will ko far toward the first month or two of tile hot lunch project. Tho R.-T.C. has ono hundred forty-three quarts of tomatoes canned by donated work in the early fall. Hot lunches will slnrt this year In December and will he carried on during nt least January nnd Kebntary.
