Perry Smith, rec tor of St. George's (episcopal church, performed the Impressive ceremony In the presence of rela tives, mouthers of the tiiedical slafr of the Facility and sorority sisters nf tho bride. The spacious garden of the Kin ney home was attractively used to seat tho guests, while the wedding ceremony took place on the raised side-terrace or I lie residence. The Track-wall of the terrace wub hank ed with g cenery, in llio center of which was arranged a cross fash ioned from white asters over which was pliiced a semi-circle of white asters intermingled with cerise colored asters. Huge baskets or apricot-colored, and white gladioli flanked the improvised altar. A white satin prayer pillow was ar ranged In front of the flowered cross, llouquets of gladioli and small bowls of pansies were ar ranged about the rooms of the home. With the opening slrnlns of Lo liengiin's Wedding March, the brid al party took its place on tho ter race. The bride, who was given in mnr Tlage by Ur. Kenneth W. Kinney, was bountiful in a princess gown of while embroidered Swiss organdy, fashioned with a long train, short ruffed sleeves, close fitting bodice and a high neckline and collar, which was fastened at the throat line with an attractive pearl clip. Tiny buttons from the back neck line to the waist were used. Her finger tip length tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of seed pearls. She-wore 'White lace elbow length mitts nnd carried a century old white Bible which belonged to Mrs. II. II. Stapletoii. Her wed ding bouquet was round in shape nnd consisted of Cecil Uninner rosebuds, bouvanlin, sweetpeas and fern. Miss Georgiana Holllngworth, of Portland, a sorority sister of the bride, was maid of honor nnd was charming In a turquoise blue Swiss organdy floor-length frock, fash ioned lo mntch the bride's gown She warn a singlo white gladioli ' bud in her hair and carried an old fashioned bouquet of asters nnd while sweetpens centered by white gladioli buds. G. tidwnrd Dissell. of Salem, bro ther of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The bridegroom and best man wore white suits. The bride's mother wore a floor length gray chirron nnd lace gown with a large pink hat and a cor sage or pink gladioli buds. The bridegroom's mother wore n royal blue flnor-leneth lace gown with a fiischlit colored belt, blue lace mit tens nnd blue picture hat banded by fusclila velvet. Her corsage was of fuschia colored gladioli buds. A wedding reception followed the ceremony, at which time a two course buffet supper was served. The buriet table, covered by an ex quisite lace cloth, was centered by the four-tiered white wedding cake decorated in pale pink rosebuds and topped bv a mlninture bride and bridegroom. Tall white tapers. Tilnced in lose-enctrcfeil holders, lighted the room. Mrs. H. H. Sta plcton poured nnd Mrs. E. F. Tandy served salads. The guests Included: Dr. nnd Mrs. Kenneth W. Kinney and son. In the field or medicine doctors have dis covered that it la tar better to prevent a disease than to cure It arter one has contracted it. As u result, we have mude much progress in curbing diseases. However,, preventative religion has lagged rar behind, and to day we are In need of a religion that will prevent people from falling as well as one which helps people after they are in trouble. The report of a recent committee on the study of crime Is appalling when we learn that crime costs us thirteen billion dollars during a single year, and the crime age has grown to vard youth. One outstanding reason for this is boys and girls ire not being taught religious principles. In other words, if we would spend more money In preventing crime, by teaching a deeper religious training to pre vent youth from falling, we would need less reformatory schools and prisons. Let us place God in the center of our lives and not in the circumfer ence. For God Is the only one who can keep us from falling. Belief In a living God can save a dying world. Amen.
