Rural Women of Oregon Offered Rest From Toil Kurul women's vacation camps are again being sponsored in sev eral sections of the slate this year, with members of the O. S. C. ex tension staff directing the pro grams. Josephine county is arranging a camp from July "1 to -.". In nil of these camps a nominal charge is made to cover (he ex pense of the camp, which also in cludes all necessary camp work so Unit the women are relieved of ev erything in the way of cooking, dishwashing, or other things that would mar a hometnaker's vaca tion. The camps are open to en roll men t by any woman over u years of age. U. D. Powell. Roseburg. secretary -treasurer of National Farm Loan asso ciations serving the counties, an nounced this week. Legislation adopted recently by congress and approved hy Presi dent Itoosevelt fixes the interest rate on the next two years' install ments oa both loans, with some few exceptions, at 3J per cent an nually. Land bank loans tniide since 1 II 17 have heen written at varying lates of interest, but aver age about ; per cent. Land bank commissioner loans made since 1!i33 have been written at a 5 per cent rate. The 31 per cent rate on land bank loans. It was explained, is a continuation of a rate that has been been! in effect since 1933. The new rate on commissioner loans trims another one-half of 1 per cent froni the interest churge, a special rule oj" 4 per cent having been in effect on these loans for some time.
