Of Oakland Dies

resident of Oakland and Douglas
county, died at the uome of bis
daughter, Mrs. 11, F. Moore, at
Creen Valley, last night. He was
born in Missouri, March 31, 1853,
and came to Oregon and Douglas
county when he was a young man.
Mr. I hornton taught school for
some years in the Nonpareil vicin
ity, where he married liehecca H.
Hunt in 1.S75. After his marriage
he purchased n farm and operat
ed it until about 20' years ago,
when he retired.
He spent almost a lifetime in
this county with tho exception of
i rew years when he lived near
Portland. Surviving are two
