Hut the mood of Europe just now Is not one in which the sen sible weighing of just claims is likely to have much of a show, and the League of Nations, which was intended to have the balance of power In the conflicting claims at Danzig, Is no longer in a posi tion to exercise it. One of the traditional meeting places, and clashing points be tween Teuton anil Slav in Europe, may thus become a meeting place of the air fleets of Europe' as well, distressingly "in the middle" to day as it has been for centuries.
