Illidge entertained tho Coterie club at her attractive home oa Ma drono Heights Wednesday after noon, with .Mrs. W. T. Harbour, , Mrs. I .on Hansen and Mrs. Frank Thompson as assisting hostesses. Mrs. H. E. Mouchette, president welcomed Mrs. Arthur Paschelke and Mrs. Melvin Davis as new members. Roll call was answered by each member with the name of a child specialist. Mrs. K. K. (J ray, mother of Mrs. Illidge, and Mrs. Mary Itarrett, county health nurse, were guests of the afternoon. Public health was the subject ot the aflei noon's program. A very in teresting paper on public sanita tion, prepared by Mrs. L. Dobyns, was read by Mrs. II. C. Huntington. Mrs. C. J. Set her gave a report on the present fight against social disease, and Mrs. Hansen presented a paper on the use of the "iron lung." Mrs. Har riet gave a very comprehensive ac count of the county health nurse, stressing the importance of the clinics for immunization, especial ly against diphtheria and smallpox, followed tip by tuberculosis tests. She also spoke on the control of venereal diseases, and on prenatal care. Mention was made of the audio meter tests which will be maile in the school, fourth to eighth grades inclusive, on March 21st, and the dental survey of all first grade children which will be made by Dr. J. 1. Wilson of Myrtle Creek, the (late for which has not yet been an nounced. After the business meeting, a so cial hour was enjoyed. Refresh ments were served by the hos tesses, the tables being attractive ly decorated in the St. Patrick's notir. Mrs. Vein Holgate and Mrs. Mark Jor dan entertained the ladies of the Westminster circle at the home of Mrs. Stella French Thursday after noon. The business meeting, con ducted by Mrs. Oscar Sigisinund, was followed by the topic, "Japan," given by Mrs. A. P. Slack, Mrs. Charles Hartley led the devotion als, Mrs. Sigisinund gave the lesson in stewardship, and Mrs. Noah Hat field was in charge ot the games. CALAPOOlA SEWING CLUB HAS MEETING SUTHERLIN, March 20. The Cnlapooia Sewing club met at the home of Mrs. Fay Leatherwood Wednesday afternoon lor their usual monthly meeting. Sewing and visiting were enjoyed and de licious refreshments were served to Mrs. J. Sonne, Mrs. Guy Cole, Mrs. Alvu Stevens, Mrs. Ray Stev ens. The club plans their next meeting at the Cain poo ia school house when the place will be celaned and put in usable condition for future meet ings of the club and other social affairs in the lower Cnlapooia -'district. MR. AND MRS. ROWELL ENTERTAIN CLUB TENMILE, March 20. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rowell entertained the members of the pinochle club at a delightful party at their home on Wednesday evening. The ladies' high score prize was won by Mrs. Addie OUIvant and Mrs. Irene Ho inolka received the consolation prize, the gentlemen's high score prize was won by Charles Rowell, the consolation prize went to Ralph Healer. At a late hour dainty refresh ments were served by the hostess to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Heater, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ollivant, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ilomolka, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Howard and daughter, Nona May. Charles Rowell and Henry Rowell. ST. PATRICK'S TEA GIVEN ON FRIDAY SUTHERLIN, 'March 20. The St. Patrick's day tea given by the ladies of the Methodist church Friday afternoon was a very sue cessful affair. Refreshments were served on several tables decorated for the purpose for the affair with lovely spring flowers. The green note was carried out in botli ta ble ware and refreshments. Mrs. W. J. lndd, chairman of the com mittee in charge, was assisted by Mrs. Royal Abeene, Mrs. C. T. Chamberlain, Mrs. John Turner and Mrs. Robert Cowger. MR. CARNALL CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY OLALLA. March 20. Mr. and Mrs. Roy J. Carnall entertained a few friends at a lovely seven o'clock dinner at their home Tues day evening, the occasion being Mr. Carnall's birthday. Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. Charles Siegel, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Barnes of Tenmile, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ollivant and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Carnall. Later In the evening lovely re freshments were served. SERVING CLUB HAS REGULAR MEETING GLENDALE, March 21. The 4-H "Stitch In Time" club, cloth ing No. 2, held their regular meet ing March 16, at (ilendalo high school. After the business meet ing report cards were made out, and some work done on the record books. Some of the girls also worked on their aprons, the cur rent project. The last half hour of the period the girls of the cooking ami sew ing classes were entertained to gether by their leaders, Mrs. rir ley Winkelman, cooking No. 1 and Mrs. R. E. Place, clothing No. 2. SPRING FASHION SHOW AND DANCE TO BE GALA AFFAIR OF TONIGHT Final arrangements have been made by the Husiness and Profes sional Women's club. In coopera tion with the Roseburg chamber of ommerce, for the second annual fashion show ami spring dance to be held at eight o 'clock at the armory tonight, March 21st. Preceding the show, Roseburg residents have planned a tour of the streets to enjoy the beautifully lecorated windows of the merch ants. The merchants are not only ooperntiug with the club and chamber of commerce by decorat ing their windows, but will present fifty models In a very charming fashion show from eight to ten o'clock at the armory. Following the fashion show. Dale Kings or chestra will play for the dance. Mrs. Story lies is acting as general chairman of the affair and Is being assisted by members of the club. Special dance features are being furub'hed through the courtesy of the Jenkins-Russell dance studio and special music is being furnish ed by violin pupils of Miss Naomi Scott's studio with Mrs. Frances Liutott us accompanist. Mrs.. Vera McCilntock Jones, vocal soloist, will sing. The presentation of the two-hour style show promises to bo unusually loveiy and the deco rations for the affair are especially beautiful.
