GETS AID PROMISE
The Douglas county chapter of
the American Red Cross will
ceive financial aid from the nation
al headquarters to continue Its pro
gram as outlined for the year. It
was announced today.
The promise of aid was made last
night by A. L. Sehafier, head, of
the Pacific coast division, who was
the principal speaker at a dinner
meeting held at the Umpqua hotel
last night by directors of the coun
ty chapter. ' . - - '
Expressing belief that the wide
spread program outlined for the
year will arouse sufficient inter
est in the general puLlic that next
year's roll call will be sufficient to
enable the chapter to sustain Its
work with Its own finances, Mr.
Schaffer pledged assistance for the
balance of the current year, assur
ing no curtailment' of activities.'

formation on the work of the Red
Cross nationally and particularly on
the Pacific coast.
