Comstock, Mrs. Walter Slater and Mrs. F. L. Young as hostesses. Following the usual business meeting ifts wero ex changed from a large beautifully trimmed tree. Two games in which Mrs. Lloyd Cameron and Mrs. Juno Shamp were winners, were enjoy ed and a reading was given by Mrs. Chris Rachman. Delicious refresh ments were served by the hostess es to about fifty guests. ' EASTERN STAR HAS REGULAR MEETING RIDDLE, Dee. 12 The local chapter of the Eastern Star met in regular session Tuesday evening with a good attendance present. Maud Acker, worthy matron, pre sided. After the business session the officers of the lodge. Maud Ac ker. Lillian Rail, Ella Hamlin nnd Orace Rocker, entertained in honor of the past matrons of the order. Dainty refreshments were served at a table decorated with lighted candles nnd bowls of fruit. Maud Acker, retiring worthy matron, pre sented eacli of her officers with tt lovely gift. DANCING PARTY TO BE HELD FRIDAY A delightful dancing party will be sponsored by St. George's Epis copal guild Friday evening at nine o'clock at the Klks temple with Keith Phillips' orchestra fur nishing the music. Members and friends are most cordially invited to enjoy the affair, w hich is the second of a series of dancing par ties to be given to raise funds for the church building. Mrs. Robert Kelly, assisted by Mrs. T. C. Wat son, will have charge of arrange ments. E. A. Post will have charge of the Paul Jones dances and Miss Helen Casey and Mrs. Paul Jen kins will give a demonstration or the Lambeth Walk. MOTHERS CLUB HAS PIE SOCIAL PROGRAM YON'CALLA, Dec. 13. Tho Moth ers club of the grade school pupils hehl a pie social and program Thursday evening ill the gym. An amateur program was enjoyed with prizes being won by Mrs. Gertrude Stout's group. Miss Vera Thompson, who yodeled. Leffter llllckenstalf and E. Sunderlin, with mandolin and guitar duet, Max Main and I,. Wormnn, vocal duet, Wheoler sisters, vocal duet, Nor man Main, a solo and Joyce Hill ings, n tap dancing number. The club realized $21.00 which will go toward serving hot lunches for the grade school children. COOKIE MATINEE TO BE SPONSORED FRIDAY A most cordial invitation has been extended by the Daptist La dies Aid to the general public to at tend u delightful cookie matinee and tea to be held from two to five o'clock Friday afternoon at tho Rosoburg Woman's club bouse. Cookies and cookie recipes will be one sale. Tea will be served and an interesting musical program will be presented hiring the tea hours. a RIDDLE GRANGE HAS FINE MEETING RIDDLE, Dec. 13. The Riddle grange met in regular session Thursday evening, at which time officers were installed for both the Riddle and Azalea granges. Mrs. Alice Gnff, with her staff of offi cers from tho Melrose grange, was prcsenL and put on the installation ceremony. An enjoyable social hour followed the business session nnd refreshments were served. About seventy were present to enjoy the occasion. Hatfield of South Deer creek were guests at the home of their grand children, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hatfield, the occasion being a noon dinner in honor of the 80lh birth day of Mr. Hatfield. Mr. Hatfield was tho recipient of ninny beautiful giftH to commemorate the occasion. MELROSE GRANGE HAS INTERESTING MEETING MELROSE, Dec. 13. The Mel rose grange met at the grange hall Tuesday evening with thirty-two members present. , The grange elected for their executive committee for the ensu ing year V. S. Woodruff, J. F. Hone brake and Mr. Young nnd Mrs. Edith Florence Kelley as their mu sician. The worthy master reported that Professor English from the Oak land high school and a group of entertainers would put on two one act plays at the grange hall Thurs day evening, December 15, and Hint no admission would be charg ed, but refreshments would be sold mid proceeds to be used for benefit of the grange. A splendid report was made on the national grange by all members attending from Melrose grange. R. seal sale, by purchasing as many seals us possible during tho ensuing two weeks. It has been reported that many residents f Douglas county were missed in the mailing list of seals sent out by the seal committee and so the unit has arranged a booth in the nostoffice lobby primarily to make it easy for people to go mere to purchase their Christmas seal supply. Miss Hettfhelle Knott Is In charge of the booth today and to morrow Miss Lois Scbearer vm have charge. The booth will bo mnmtaineu throughout the week nnd on Satur day will be in charge of boys of Scout Troop No. seven. The sup port of the nubile for this most worthwhile project has been roiicu ed by the health unit committee in charge of the seal sale drive.
