Mrs. Joe Matthews very charmingly enter tained with a lovely shower party at her home Wednesday afternoon for her niece, Mrs. Jerry Horn. The rooms were decorated with bouquets of gladioli, golden glow and tul) pink and blue tapers with a large bouquet of gladioli and gold en glow in a pink vase as a center piece on the dining table. The ' meeting on September 7 will be held nt the home of Mrs. Green. W. C. T. U. TO HOLD ALL-DAY MEETING The Roseburg W. C. T. U. will hold an Important all-day meeting Wednesday at the home of the president, Mrs. C. A. Chamberlln, on West First street for the pur pose of completing the sewing pro jects before the opening of the Douglas county fairs. The sewing is being done for the Children's Farm home at Corvallls and will be exhibited at the fairs. A large attendance of members has been requested by the officers, so that this sewing may be completed. A delightful potluck luncheon has been planned for the noon hour. HOUSE GUESTS' ARE HONORED AT PARTIES MYRTLE CREEK, Aug. 8. Mrs. George Trask and her daughter, Miss Helen Haley, were hostesses during the past week for two groups of house guests. Mrs. Trask's niece and nephew, Wll'nrd and Ruth Stafford of Dtilismulr, were the first visitors, departing for their home Friday. On Monday, a niece, Miss Phyl lis Haley, and friend, Miss Ruby Hydel, both tenchers' from Buhl Idaho, and Miss Rita Gless, of Milton, Oregon, stopped en route to their homes after a long motor trip. SHOWER OIVEN FOR GIRL SCOUT ADVISOR CAMAS VALLEY, Aug. 8. The Girl Scouts gave their advisor, Mrs. Nellie Siegel, a dish-towel shower at her home Tuesilay evening. Out door games were played on the school grounds nearby until dark, when the girls gathered at the Siegel home again ror refresh ments'. Relief Rebe- kah lodge met in regular session Wednesday evening with Genevieve Cornutt, noble grand, in the chair. Two new members, Elsie Riddle and Ella Hamlin, were initiated in to the degree at the meeting. The degree team with I. A. Dean, cap tain, put on the work. At the close of the regular business, refresh ments were Berved in the dining room at a table beautifully decor ated with bouquets of summer flowers. The lodge room was also decorated with huge bouquets of gladioli. Five birthdays were hon ored this month, Efflo Ledgnrwood, Flora Dean, Anna Mills, Waneta CoBgrove and Eileen Cook.
