KnglUh it ml Mi.s Strong took the examinations and passed Willi excellent ratings. The examinations cover technic and studies as well as repertoire ami require a well rounded course of study. Of the seven , examina tions which comprise the complete courso of study, the first four were given at this time. The object of tho work is to raise the stand ards of teaching and to provide an Incentive to serious studv which leads to true musicianship, Mr. Artau expressed himself ns highly pleased with the quality of work done and was very encour aging to tho students and teach ers. Certificates have been issued to those who passed .the examina viona and will bo publicly present ed, Tho pupils of Mrs. Knglish will receive theirs at her recitals In Oakland and Myrtle Creek and Miss Strong's pupils will receive theirs on Saturday evening, June 4, at her public recital at the South Methodist church. Pupils of Miss Strong who took the examinations were: Retty Swift, Ruth Heck. 'NSPECTION HELD AT AUXILIARY MEETING Tho annual department luspeq Joii of the Fulled Spanish War Veterans auxiliary was hold at tho Rosoburg armory, May 12, with Mrs. Margaret Rodgers, department senior vice-president, officiating The exemplification of th ritual was carried out by the color team and officers, followed by a com mentiiry speech by the department officer in charge. Plans were made for attendance of department con vention to be held at McMinnvillo, Oregon, during the month of July. The following delegates and alter nates were elected: Mrs. Nettie Craig. V. sewing circle met at the home of Mrs. Frank Compton Friday with Mrs. V. O. ('linger acting as hostess. The main business of tho afternoon was taking photographs which are to appear in the department year book. Fifty students will participate in the beautiful ballet and tap recital, which will include two attractive exhibition dances by Mrs. Jenkins and Mr. Russell. Mrs. Howard 'Crook and Mrs. Vera MeClinloek Jones are acting as pianists for the affair, with J. D. "Snap" Glllniore and his or chestra furnishing the music for the recital.
