Christmas decorations were us ed throughout the rooms and a heautiful decorated Christmas tree completed the decorations for the occasion. After a short business meeting was held a jtrogram of readings was enjoyed and several Christmas carols were sung by the group. Mrs. Daisy Ward won the club prize, Mrs. Holmqutst and Mrs. Ella .lohnson announced they would entertain the club in January at the home of the former. Dec. 21 What was unanimously voted to lie the jolliest and best party ol the closing year was the Decem ber monthly party of the Loyal Rereau and high school classes of the Christian church, held Tues day. The basement of the church was beaut if all v decorated, carry ing out the Christmas motif in evergreen and Yuletide colors. The program committee did themselves proud by providing so many new and interesting games mil stunts that every bod v dread ed to stop and eat and go home. Miss Mervlyn Henslee, assisted by Miss Melba Wilson entertained a party of young people at the Henslee home Saturday evening. Dec. 18. The affair was given in honor of Karl Kimmel of Riddle and Curly Mc Lain of Myrtle Creek, who are home from 6. S. C. for the Christ mas holidays. A delicious chick en dinner was served at seven o'clock covers being laid for the following: Dorothy Moore, Elsie Ilammersley, Hilly Wilson, Karl Kimmel, Melba Wilson and Merv lyn Henslee of Riddle, and Anita Cooper. Delbert Trask, Curly Mc Lain and Leonard Dyer of Myrtle Creek. Later in the evening the group attended the dance at Can yon ville. ' REBEKAH LODGE HAS INTERESTING MEETING RIDDLE. Dec. 21. The local Rebekah lodge held an interesting ajul enjoyable session last ed nesday evening. Mrs. Chester Cook was initiated into the lodge, the work being put on very creditably by the drill team. After the busi ness session the members and guests were ushered to the dining room where the members whose birthdays occurred in November and December were givn seats of honor at the banquet, table. Deco rations of mistletoe and Chriptmas greens graced the table and a lighted birthday cake formed the c .-nterpirce. The six honor guests were each pre?mted with a gift. Included iu the group's business session were a number of commit tee reports, notable among which were those of the objective rotu miitee, Fred Asam, chairman, and the hot lunch committee. Mrs. John Robinson, chairman. Two local objectives of the asso ciation are neariug fulfillment in the construction of a play shed, now under way, nnd the announce- meni of a project to be taken up in hi tih school for planning beau Mticatiort ot the school groun With students working out v situs for planting the grounds in native trees and shrubbery, it is exnected that much public interest will be aroused In the long-needed lundscatdng program and that some of the actual planting will he accomplished this winter. Hot lunch funds this year ex ceed those used last year. Mrs Robinson reported, and Indications are that this project will go off even more successfully than in the past. Local women are donating their services in the preparation of a hot dish each noon at school, and the menu routine is the same as formerly. Five gallons of milk are needed each Wednesday for cocoa, and it is- requested that anvone wishing to give or sell milk on that day contact the com mittee. Messages from state and nation al presidents were read, anil the evening was concluded with a short program on "Peace." Bible read ings on the subject were given by va nous members, and t he g rou p sang the song, "Peace, Wonderful Peace. Mrs. Paul Caswell and Mrs. Claude Talcott sang a duet on l be f'tne theme, accompanied hv Miss Helen Weiherell. For this number small Darlene Livingston portrayed the goddess of peace on the stage.
