S. department of agriculture suid today milk and egg production In Oregon as of Au gust 1 was higher on an average than on a corresponding date In either of the two preceding years. The average was computed from the production of milk per cow and the number of eggs laid per luu hens and pullets. i On August 1, 1U34, milk produc tion was 16.8 pounds per cow. In 1935, 17.5 pounds, and this yeai 18.7 pounds. The egg production as of August 1, 1935 was 47 per 100 hens and pullets, 47.9 In and 49.4 In 1936. None of the five districts Into which the state was divided for the survey showed a consistent ln creuse In the two categories since 1934, but district 1, composed of the Willamette valley and north western Oregon, showed milk pro duction above 1934 and 1935 and egg production above 1934 and equal to 1935.
