At a Sunday school business meeting held at he home of Mrs. Bes Cooper, Monday night, the superintendent and teachers and oftloers ot the Christian Sunday school voted to have the annual picnic on Sunday, August 16, at Uunuavin's grove on Lees creek. Everybody Is requested to come to Sunday school and church as usual and from there to go to the grove following the morning services. T. E. (Tom) Strode and son, Percy, returned Friday from a mo tor trip to Payette, Idaho. Mr. Strodo, who has been a sufferer from asthma for many years, had not been away from oIb home for a long time, and his many friends are glad to know that be stood his long trip very well and is home none the worse. He visited hla brother. Win. Strode, at Payette. E. J. Mimnaugh and Loren James made a business trip to the southern part of the state Friday. Mrs. James accompanied them as far as Grants Pass to visit her mother, Mrs. Sims, who has been ill for some time, but Is somewhat Improved at present. Buddy and Blossom Oazley visit ed in Medford last week at the home ot Mrs. Pansy Kirby Smith. They returned the last of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Mi) as Jones and daughters, Dorothy and Phyllis, and Mrs. R. Skinner and children, Wanda and Leonard, motored to the South Umpqua falls, beyond Tiller, a week ago Saturday. Mrs. Ernest Bryant has been quite 111 for the last few days Minor Freed visited here from Portland, a few days recently. Mr. Freed formerly lived here. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Aldredge and their daughter, Mrs. Mary Cave ot Medford, attended the funeral ot Mrs. Lawrence Hulbert, in Rose burg Tuesday afternoon. Last Friday Warren Valentine Jr., took his car and hauled a load ot young sportsmen, consisting of Ralph and Glenn Shirtcliff and El ton McLafn, to the end of the road Camp Comfort seven miles from Fish lake. Warren then re turned and the lads walked on in to the lake, where they camped and fished till Tuesday, when their chauffeur went after them and brought them home. They report a wonderful time with only one mishap Glenn lost his fishing pole. Charles Coryell of Sacramento, who visited here with his mother and sister last week, returned to his home last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Stearns mo tored to Corvallis Friday ufternoon for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Dan W. Poling, who are living there this summer, while Mr. Poling at tends summer school at the col lege. - On Saturday they all drove over to Yachats and Newport for the day. Sunday the Stearns came to Drain, where the day was, spent with Mrs. Stearns' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Deardorff, and her sister. Miss Desste Deardorff, of San Francisco. Miss Deardorff ac companied Mr. and Mrs. Stearns home and will visit for a few days in Myrtle Creek, before returning to her work as a nurse in a Sau Francisco hospital. Mrs. Agnes Portouw and daugh ter, Yvonne, and Mrs. Portouw's sister, Miss Echo Knight, visited here last week, after a week spent en route from their home in Port land. They traveled south over the coast road to Crescent City, then via the Redwood highway to the Oregon caves, then to Crater and Diamond lakes then to Myrtle Creek for a visit with their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. bam Knight. On July 21 Mr. Knight and Mrs. Por to w celebrated their birthdays which both occur on that date. They returned to Portland lust Sat urday. YONCALLA YONCALLA, July 31 .
