The 4-H cluh of .Riddle Is sponsoring a program and social evening to be held the evening of May 8 at the school gym at Riddle. The proceeds are o be used to defray the expenses of a 4-H member to be sent to the two weeks' summer school at Cor- vallls held annually. CLUB HAS MEETING SATURDAY RIDDLE, May 1. The P. N. G. club of Relief Rebekah lodge at Riddle held Its regular meeting Saturday. Mrs. Blanche Wood and Mrs. Alta Aspey acted as hostesses. The president, Margaret Klmmel, being absent, Mrs. Lora Riddle substituted for her. After the busi ness session the members and guests were ushered to the dining room where the hostesses served dainty refreshments at a beautiful table decorated In colors of yellow and green. ACHIEVEMENT CUP ELECTION TO BE HELD Election for the girls' achieve ment cup given each yar by the Girls' league will take place ut the next Girls' league meeting which will be Tuesday. In order for a girl to be eligible i she must have attended Roseburg ; high school three years, have a three average in all subjects, rep-1 resent her school or class in some important activity of the school, have that character which is de sirable In an ideal girl. The girl shall be chosen on the above re commendation by the closed ballot vole of the girls of Roseburg high. If after the tirst election was made one girl has not obtained a two thirds majority, a second vote shall be taken from the three high est. If after two votes are cast neither girl has a two-thirds ma jority, a third vote is cast for the two highest with the girl receiv ing the highest being awarded the cup. FORMER ROSEBURG DANCER WINS RECOGNITION AT HOLLYWOOD PERFORMANCE According to word received here Miss Jean LaRose Scammon, who was a talented dancer-student of Mrs. Paul Jenkins in this city, has been chosen as one of the "Dis coveries of 1936" of southern Cali fornia, and will be presented by the Assistance League of Southern California May 13 at the Wllshire Ebel theatre in Los Angeles.
