WILLARD I PROGRAM ENJOYED AT MEETING ON WEDNESDAY The Women's Christian Temper I once Union and members of the U. j A. li. held a very interesting joint meeting at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church parlors. The meeting was opened by sing ing "Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus." Praver was offered by Mrs. C. A. Chamberlin and others pres ent. Tne devotions were in charge of Mrs. Alta Kinnear of the Four Square Gospel church, who used the t7th Pi-aim as her text. Mra. Chamberlin gave a loving tribute of praise in memory of the late vice president of the Rose burg W. L.-T. V., Mrs. Bessie Smith. Mrs. W. M. Campbell bad charge of the program reviewing the life of Frances E. Willard, founder of the W. C. T. U. The program was very Interesting and included the following: Mrs. Earl Agee spoke on Frances E. Willard as an edu cator; Mrs. h. E. Good bourn on "Frances E. Willard as a patriot;" Mrs. R. L. Gile, "Miss Willard as su orator;" Mrs. Paul Warren sang a group of solos, accompanied by Mrs. Clyde Beard; Mrs. O. M. Nicholas read a poem honoring the memory of Miss Willard; Mrs. C. E. Wlmberly spoke of Miss Willard as a temperance worker; Mrs. C. A. Edwards spoke of her as an or ganizer, and Mra. Watson E. Boise talked on Miss Willard as a ser vuiu of God. Mrs. Edith S. Ackert, Douglas county school superintend ent, explained the Frances E. Wil lard educational fund. Benediction closed the meeting, , A pleasant social hour followed and refreshments wore served by. the hostesses, Mrs. Alba Spaugh, Mra. ll, W. Marsters, Mrs. George Ware and Mrs. Elmer McKean.
