The snag ran up un der the knee cup and has become infected from the rusty wire. He is having the injury cared for by Dr. Foley of Roseburg. Mrs. O. B. Murray went to Co qullle on business Tuesday. The special election was held at the schoolhouse Friday. Dee Coon has been rebuilding the wire fence on the front of his place. He has put in all new posts and straightened up the fence, also trimmed out the fence row. Mr. Porter received word a short time ago of the death of an elder sister at her home in Miama, Okla homa. Rex Dick spent Saturday eve ning and Sunday here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Dick. He returned to Alleghany Sunday evening where he is employed in a logging camp. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Coates and daughter, Helen, came up from Powers Saturday noon and visited until Sunday evening at the R. W. Dick home. Work In the logging camps at Powers has shut down Indefinitely, due to the longshore men's strike in San Francisco, which is the marketing point for Powers products. Jim Farmer spent the week-end at the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tbelmar Farmer. Mrs. Fred Lange, who has been living in Arizona lor the past year, visited friends In the valley Friday leaving by bus for her home Sat urday noon. She was called to Whitesun, Oregon, a short time ago by the serious illness of her mother and Just prior to her visit here had spent several days in Marshfield visiting her husband's mother, Mrs. George Trueinan. The grange is sponsoring a de bate by a team from the university in Kugene on the subject, "Can the United Slates Keep Out of the Next War?" The debate is sched uled for the evening of Feb. 13, and Is free to all who wish to hear it. Miss Georgia Kay lor and a friend, Miss Helen Magers, from Roseburg went to the coast Friday noon, returning to Roseburg Sat urday where Miss Kaylor spent the week-end with her friend. . An im promptu program was arranged by Miss Irene Rowetl In the absence of the program committee. All en Joyed the afternoon. A delightful luncheon was prepared by Mrs. Minnie Lock wood.
