an opportunity to see one of their
favorites. Jack Drews, In action
next week, when Drews returns to
the ring after a long lay-off. Drews
is scheduled to meet Buzz Zlm-
niermaiin of Klamath Falls In the
headlfner of the card to be held at
Canyonvllle, Tuesday, January 28,
under the sponsorship of the South
L'uipqua Rod and Gun club.
Drews, who was a great favorite
with fans at Roseburg, Marshfleld,
Portland and Seattle, has been out
of the ring for several months, due
to an injured ankle. Recently he
has been serving as athletic In
structor at the South Umpo.ua CCC
camp, and Is said to be In excellent
condition.
Since coming to the Pacific coast
from Philadelphia in 1933, Drews
has fought mostly main events.
The majority of hi battles have
taken place In Portland, Seattle
und Marshfleld. i
He had little trouble In disposing
of most of the local talent, prior to
entering the game at Portland,
from which place he went to Seattle.

the volleyball game, the Sutherlin

girls, leading the southern district
by a score of 40 to 17.
In the basketball game between
the two high school teams the first
half was played on fairly even
terms, but Myrtle Creek opened
up a second half rally to win 2u
to 10.

Two-year aging in the wood or
all "straight" wnisky was project
ed today in standards for the dis
lilted spirits industry made public
by Miss Josephine rtocbe. acting al'
cobol administrator.
One year's aging will be requir
ed of alt "slraigut" whisky bottled
after July 1, 1036, and the age re
quirement will be gradually In
creased until the two-year rule is
put in force after July 1, 1937.

had proposed that an age require
ment for "straight" whisky be en
forced at once.
"As a result of testimony pro
duced at the hearing relative to
the quantities of aged whisky now
in possession of the various mem
bers of the industry, the dates up
on which (he various requirements
become effective have been ad
vanced," Mies Roche explained.
