It has been acclaimed by the press and public wherever it has1 played. The reason for the enthusiastic acceptance of this farce is that it is a long succession of laughs. Four hundred and twenty-two sure fire laughs have been counted. The simple, hearty fun that follows on the wild students' trick of turning a chum into an old lady so that their sweethearts should be en couraged to visit them under "pro tection" convulses audiences ev erywhere. Great care was lavished In bring ing this play by Brandon Thomas to the screen. The role in itself was such a riot that one of the most outstanding comedians on the screen today had to be chosen for its portrayal. It is none other than Charles Haggles, who is in a class by himself so far as sophisticated comic portrayals are concerned. IL is a difficult role indeed, and re quired unusual ability. But Charlie Ruggles-is pecu liarly adapted to the delineation ot difficult roles. He Is a veteran star of musical comedy. His pic ture work includes roles in such successful attractions as "Gentle men of the Press," "The Lady Lies" and "Young Man of Man hattan." It is sale to predict that his performance in "Charley's Aunt" will go down in red letters in motion picture history. In' the cast with him are June Collyer, Flora Sheffield, Doris Lloyd, Hugh Williams, Rodney Mc Lennon and Halliwell Hobbes. Al Christie, a master hand in the di rection of comedy, handled the production.
