health hoard that the water at the
Intake on Mill Creek, (Jlendale's
new source or added water supply,
shows larger bacteria count than
water from Section creek. Chlori

The matter of placing a fire
alarm box on the corner near the
bank building was discussed.
Councilman Hasye proposed that
anyone giving a false alarm or
sounding the siren except tor fire
purposes be guilty of a misdemean
or ami he fined accordingly, but
action on ttiis was deferred to an
other meeting.
Several com plaints regarding
siray hursep and cattle were heard
by ihe council and a stricter eiiv
forcemeat of Clendale's estray or-

were given police powers to en
force this nrdinanc with the prom
ise dial any fees or fines collected
in this connection will be turned

way 7 miles east of this city is
now under the management of Mr.
and Mrs. H. J. Hash, formerly of
Canyonville, who took over the
business with the beginning of the
new year.
They formerly operated a filling
station at Canyonville which has
been closed for the winter. They
are also owners of the Canyon
ville telpehone exchange which has
been leased by Mr. and Mrs. Ger

The auto camp at Fortune Branch
Is one of the largest and oldest!
camps on the Pacific highway in
the Cow Creek section. Two com
plete service stations, one on each
side of the highway, and a grocery
store, will be operated hy Mr. and
Mrs. Hash, in addition to the cabin
service and camp grounds In con

of the marriage this week of
Esther Thompson of Wilbur and
Robert E. Gardner of Colviile,
Washington, came as a surprise
to their many friends In Douglas
county. The bride is a daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Thompson
of Wilbur. She is a graduate of
Wilbur high school of the class
of '29. having spent most of her
school years In the Wilbur schools.
Since her graduation she has been
