Mrs. H. D. Blair and baby
daughter left for their home at
Huntington Beach, Cal., Friday
morning, after spending several
weeks visiting here at the home
of Mrs. Blair's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. A. J. Kaess.

A. S. Tison of Drew at Roseburg,
Monday. September 29. Mrs. Tison
was formerly Miss Leonore Mor
gan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J
S. Morgan, and resided here with
her parents while attending the

have been visiting with friends and

past two weeks, returned to their

has moved from the cottage on

Mrs. C. O. Garrett returned to
her home at the Avalon ranch
Monday where she was joined by

of the Douglas county exhibit at
the state fair. This exhibit made
a big hit at the fair and was bought
and taken to Portland by the
Meier & Frank company and is

Ed Johns, well known Cow
Creeker, now employed as a fore
man on a construction job in the
national park service at Crater
lake, was a business caller in
Glendale Thursday. While here
Johns hired nearly 30 men to go
to Crater lake at once. They will
be employed In falling timber and
clearing the right of way for the
rim road around the lake that

Job is expected to last approxi
mately two months.

a prune orchard near Riddle.
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Miller spent
several days here visiting at the
home of their son-in-law and

Meissner. Miller Is now operating
the old Leighton placer mine on
Ferris gulch on the upper Apple-
gate valley in Josephine county.
This is one of the oldest placer
mines in that locality.
E. E. Romfg and son Ed, of
Grants Pass, passed through here
Friday on their way to the Gold
Bug mine in the Mount Reuben
district. The Gold Bug was at one
time a rich producer. In recent
years the mine has been closed
down and the property more or
less involved in litigation. The
Romfgs, who now control the pro
perty, are doing some development
work there.
Mr. and Mrs. George Morey are
moving to Dothnn where Morey
will be employed on the section
by the Southern Pacific company.
