Fhon ISft-L POEM FOR THE DAY By LOUIS ALBERT BANKS THE "KNIGHTS OF PEACE" A correspondent of the Monitor writing from Switzerland says: "The 'KniKhts of Peace,' founded by a French officer utalioncd In the Ruhr to keep up throuKh correspondence contacts made by him and his friends with young Germans, is expanding into an' international movement. ' "The 'Knights of Peace' meet every year, and their latest interna tional gathering took place last August in Germany, not far from Stuttgart. Ono hundred and twenty on the desirability of founding a House of Peace, in the neighborhood of Geneva, to comprise a School of Peace and a hostelry. "The purpose of the school would be to train lecturers, whose Emission would lake Ihem to different places In the country and to provincial towns, there to help the movement lo ouilaw war. The officer who founded this hopeful organization was Captain Etienne Bach. " . Three cheers for this new chivalry! This man beneath the fleur-de-lis Deserves the world's most grateful thanks In swelling thus its peaceful ranks To touch the flaming heart of youth With such inspiring hopeful truth That peace not war shall win the glory And live in song and glowing story. In modern youth the future rests; : The world's great hope is in their breasts; If they shall wake to peaceful dreams And fill the world with kindly schemes, Old hates and feuds will die away, And there shall dawn a brighter day When war shall be a badije of shame, And peace the path that leads to fame. 'Tis good to see these war-torn lands Unite in these fraternal bands. In this new fellowship of mind They'll many threads of kinship find, Raise racial friendship to an art Its noblest sign a gentle heart. The highest mark of victory The badge of helpful ministry. Cod bless these gracious "Knights of Peace" ; They'll help the world to sweet release. ' It is a breath from Galilee, From Him who came to set men free. Let all who hail Him Prince -and Lord, I Who bow in reverence to MM Word, I Join hands with brothers everywhere To rid the world of war's dread scare I COMPARATIVE WEATHER DATA i I'. S.
