"Sarah and Son" Is the story of an impoverished actress who is forced to give up' her baby boy that she might work and live. On becoming famous she tries to re trieve the lad but encounters in trigue upon the part of the wealthy couple who have adopted her child. The manner in which she accomplishes her rourageous pur pose forms the climax of the pic ture. It is tense and breath-taking but it is one which leaves an au dience in a happy glow of good spirits. Fredrlc March is cast opposite Miss Chatterton. He plays the part of the young lawyer who falls in love with her and tries to help her retrieve her young son, play ed by Phlllipe de Lacy. There is an abundance of Bplemlld character-portrayal In the picture. Timothy Shea wrote the original novel upon which the screen story based. Zoo Altins, renowned American woman poet and play wright, wrote the adaptation from the novel. Bates Here Bert G Bates, former associate editor of the Ro3Plmrg News-Review, now located In Hollywood, arrived In Hoseburg last night (or a short visit on his wav to the American Legion convention at Baker. He left this afternoon for the conven tion. Mrs. Bates and daughter. Sally Zoo, are travelling bv boat from Los Angeles to Seattle and will join Mr. Bales in Portland after the convention, and they will stop in Hoseburg for a short visit on their way back to Hollywood. Former Resident Visits Mrs. W. D. Wiley, former Hoseburg resident, is visiting friends here for a short time. Mrs. Wiley is now living in Independence, where her husband is manaser ot the J. C. Penney store. Transferred to Roseburg C. L. Spray and J. Kllnge, Southern Pa cific employees formerly stationed in Roseburg but who have been in Eugene since leaving here, have been transferred back to this city for Cite fruit season. To Attend Convention R. L. Dunn, local chiropractor. Is leav ing the last of this week for Los Ana-plea, where he will attend the national convention of the chiro practors' association.
