Many cLy dwellers have summer cabins on the rivers, and these cabins will see many delightful affairs during the warm months. The well known swimming holes and picnic grounds are drawing their crowds, too, now that the hot summer days have come. The Roscburg Country cluh at tracts Us number of pleasure-makers, and many cars wind over I hi highway to the club grounds in the evenings and on holidays bear ing golfers seeking pleasant recrea tion. For those who have only a short time to devote to the game, the midget courses just opening in the city, are a diversion. Willi many Hosehurg folk enjoy 'ing vacations at the popular ' beaches, In California and at Cra ter and Diamond lakes, and wlih many others entertaining out ' town guests, these weeks see Very Utile activity in social circles. '..Miss Hazel Patterson Bride of Wesley Williams in Pretty Home Ceremony In a Very pretty wedding which .whs solemnized at two o'clock this aflernoou at the home of I he bride's parents ou the M el rose road, Miss Hazel Patterson and Wesley Williams were united In marriage. Kev. Charles A. Kdwarda of the local Methodist Kpiscopal church read the ceremony in the presence of the relatives of the bride and bridegroom. The couple stood beneath tin arch covered with massed sweet peas in pastel shades during the ceremony. Swept peas and gladio lus wero piionylnont among' the) many flowers which gave a summer-time atmosphere to the rooms. ' The bride was charming In a frock of blege crepe romanu 1 rim med with French flowers, and oil with a graecful, full-length Jabot in front, and with jabols from el how to wrist on the sleeves. IJlego slippers and hose completed the co.itume. She carried a shower bouquet of sweet peas and rose buds. A reception Tor the gnosis was held following the ceremony. The couple left for a week or (en days in Portland and Seattle. On their return they will be at home to their many friends at Mel rose. .. . Later In the evening, Mr., and Mrs. Kelley left on a wedding trip south. They will be at home In Salem after July 10. Mrs. Kelley has been employed as an usher at the Fox Klsluore theatre. She carried a bouquet of sweeL peas. After the ceremony the bride and bridegroom entertained with a reception in their apartment, which was lovely with fragrant flow ers. C ,A is spending a few weeks In this city at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wash ington Hughes, having come here from the y, W. C. A. convention in Seabeck. Miss, Hughes expects to visit nere ana , at jianuon uuiu August 6, when she will leave for San Francisco, where an examina tion of the working conditions of girls in factories is being carried on by Y. W. C. A. college girls. Approximately ten girls from var ious colleges and universities are in the work, making the experi ment of working in the factories under the same condition as other working girls, and living on the salary which they receive. Miss Hughes, who is president of the university Y. W. C. A. In Eugene, will be there for the close of the experiment. Following that she plans to leave for Granville, Ohio, to attend the national executive council of the student Y. W. C. A., leaving Granville in time to return to Eugene for the opening of school. R. Klmmel of Hoaglin. 4-H Canning Club Meets With Leader The girls of the 4-H Canning cluh of Tenniile met on Sunday of this week at the home of their leader Mrs. W. O. Watson, to hold a dem onstration on how to make quick jam and jelly. The finished prodi ucts testified to the success or their efforts as was verified by the visitors present when they were served by ,the girls -with tiesli home made' bread and buttet- auj loganberry jam.
