Laivo and son was launched Saturday at the foot of Chicago avenue. The boat has been chris tened "The Fairway," and is as beautifully constructed cratl as the expert hand of L,aivo could make. It Is a 4 1 foot hull with an 11 foot beam large enough to carry from five to six tons of iced sal mon. A 20 horsepower Atlas im perial Full Diesel engine will be I UHed in the boat. The vessel Is varnished a natural wood color which tends to give it a classy appearance; it will no doubt compare favorably with any fishing cratt along the coast. i ! . June 25. A large number of oil trucks have ar rived here to load with oil for oil ing between Bandon and River ton. Approximately a six-mile stretch has been resurfaced and is being given a first coat of oil. The road between Ilandon and Coquille is much improved over what It was a few weeks ago. Salmon fly and spinner were used most successfully, he says. - A good run of jack salmon is now on. he reports, several of this kind of fish being numbered among the past week's catch. Coast Guard after a day of drilling caught a large octopus while tishing about three miles off shore. This fish had eieht ten tacles which have suckers on them to suck the food into the body.
