Rev. Alexander Mulrden read the ceremony, which was witnessed by two sisters of the bride, Mrs. Rose Kelley and Miss Emma Jantzer. After the ceremony the bride and groom denaried on a trln to Washington to visit at the home of the groom's parents. Belle View Club to Meet Next Thursday The Belle View club will hold its regular meeting on Thursday. .June 12. at the home of Mrs. Park er of East Deer creek. Stapleton presided over an affair of attractive appoint ments when she entertained with a one o'clock luncheon on Thursday of this week at her home on Chad wick street, honoring Mrs. B. H. Moore of Portland, former Rose burg resident, who Is a house guest of Miss Elizabeth Parrott. Season al flowers, centering the table and olaced about the rooms, added a colorful note to the rooms. Following the ceremony the coir pie left for Kneene where they will Final Recital of Mrs. Heinline's Pupils Given Monday Evening The advanced students of Mrs. Heinllne gave the sixth and final j recital of the season before an i enthusiastic audience that filled the auditorium of the First M. E. church, last Monday evening, with I.eroy lliatt, tenor, as assisting art ist. '1 he concert would have ri valed a metropolitan musical event, for each player evidenced poise, musical feeling, tempered by musi cal intelligence and a very com prehensive technical equipment. Most of those who played have been students of Mrs. Helnline since kindergarten, showing the re sults of constant and uninterrupt ed study, for It requires years of thorough training to develop real musicians. Mr. Hiatt is a favorite with Rose burg audiences and his vocal solos, "Spirit Flower," by Campbell-Tipton, "Trees," by Rusbacb and "When I'm with You," by Robinson added the finishing touches to a very artistic program. The stage setting for these re citals lias been decorated through the courtesy of the Fern Floral shop, which furnished fresh flow ers for each performance. Miss Irene Houser Pleasantly Surprised With Birthday Party Miss Irene Houser was pleasant ly surprised Wednesday evening when a group of her trienus were invited to a six o'clock dinner in honor of her birthday. The guests gathered around a charmingly appointed table center ed with a basket of pink and yel low rosebuds and lighted with tall tapers in tbo same shades. Cor sages and favors at each cover completed the decorative scneme. A three-course dinner was served bv Mrs. A. B. Houser, assisted by Miss Violette Houser. Picnic at Bandon Perfect Attendance Award for U. and I. Class As a reward for a perfect attend ance record during the contest of the past twelve weeks, a number of girls of the U and I class of the Christian Bible school spent Fri day of this week on a picnic at Bandon bench. Engagement of Miss Lois Beckley Revealed Recently The - engagement of Miss- Lois Beckley of this city and Ronald Udell, of Yakima, Washington, which ! was revealed last Sunday at dinner in the Chi Omega sor ority house and the PI Kappa Alpha fraternity house, has been of much interest to the younger eli des of this city. Announcement of the betrothal was made through cleverly made place cards in the colors of the houses. Miss Beckley. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Buckley of this city, is a graduate of the Rose burg high school, and a member of the Chi Omega social sorority on the Oregon State campus. Miss Beckley will be a junior In the college next year. -Mr. Udell, who is a member of the PI Kappa Alpha social fra ternity, w ill graduate from Ore-1 gon Esiaiu college urxi jcii. B. and P. W. Club ' Enjoys Dinner at Brand's Barbecue One of the most Interesting and attractive events in club circles during the past week was the 6:4fi dinner held by the Roseburg Busi ness and Professional Women's club at Brands' Barbecue. The tables were attractive with large green bowls of summer flow ers and pink tapers in candle sticks of the same color. Minia ture traveling bags with pennants of different vacation resorts were used as favors. The teacher3 in the Roseburg schools who are club members were special guests, be ing seated together at a reserved table. Miss Ona May Moore, who has been instructor of the club gym class during' the past year was pre sented with a beautiful gift by Miss Verna Carothers. A mock court scene was enacted by members who nttended the Med ford convention, two of the dele gates being the offenders. This caused a great deal of amusement and was enjoyed by all. The reports and high lights from tbo Medford convention were given by the delegates in n very inter esting manner and many worth while ideas were expressed. The club Is planning a card party to be hold within the next few weeks with Mrs. S. L. Kidder in charge. The regional convenllon of Busi ness anil Professional Women's clubs is to be held In Seaside Juno IB, 17 and IS. and the Roseburg club hopes to have a number at tend. An appreciation -of thanks was given to the touchers for their ex cellent work In the club during the past year by the president, 'Mrs. E. R. Kenny, and liest wishes for an enjoyable vacation and return to Roseburg. The next meeting of tbo club will be the annual picnic to be held at the picnic grounds of Miss Boss Wharton, who has charge of the meeting. At' this time the of ficers for the ensuing year will he installed. Northside Sunshine Club Entertained by Mrs. Goodman The Northside Sunshine club was entertained on Thursday aft ernoon of this week at the coun try home of Mrs. Lee Goodman.
