Stanford coeds, profiting by the annual women's edition of the Stanford Daily, have started a campaign for a "godmother with 110.000,000." They want an endowment that will lift the limit of 500 women stu dents set by the Stanford grant of IS'O. They want free and equal priv ileges with the men students, a new gym and the right to stay out nights. And , They want to be regarded as pood dates! "Mills girls are beautiful, Califor nia coeds are good dates, U. C. L. A,s femininity are lovely crea tures, but Stanford's women have high I. Q.'s" wailed Miss Sylvia Weaver, women's editor. In dis cussing the traditions of the sit uation. "There Is a deep-rooted ancient prejudice against the Five Hundred." . ' Mrs. Leland Stanford Sr. Is said to have set the 500 limit, fearing the university named for her son might become a women's college Put she couldn't forsee the results. Miss Weaver said "500 women doomed to dateless nights, to watch boy friends who would b theirs leave the campus day after day to delftrhr the hearts of maid ens up and down the peninsula." That's why, the writer said, the Rtandtord women want the $10 000. 000, "to flood the campus with co eds so that no longer will there be grounds for the belief that all Stanford women are mental gen iuses traditionally avoided bv col leglans on the hectic search for romance." ion over Paddy Walthier, San Fran cisco, In a fast bout here last night, in which no great damage wa done. The feature of the evening was the 10-round mix between Mickey Dolan, Portland, and Al (Jotthardt, German lightweight. Mickey found the German a tough boy with a baffling style and that made him hard to peach effectively. Mickey did considerable hard thumping in the latter rounds. Pay McQuillan, clever Denver colored welter weight, won a well-earned decision over Jimmy Dolan, Portland. Mc Quillan out boxed the Portlander in nearly every round and clinched the decision in the tenth with a couple of hard ones to Uomn's jaw. Krnle Beebe, Portland, and Larry Rarrattl, San Francisco, heavy weights, slugged each other for six rounds with everything but the ring posts, Beebe taking the nod. Abie Israel, Portland bantam, took an easy decision over Penile Milla tor, Filipino, in the four-round curtain raiser.
