Knchieven'ieiit girl by a large ma jority of the senior high Girls' club members at a meeting Mon day of this week. The cup was presented to the iGirls' club three years ago and is won each year by a senior girl. The first winner of the cup was Miss Shirley Knight and last year was held by Miss Dorothy Arun del. The requirements for attain ing the achievement cup are: 1 The winner must be a mem ber of the school for three years. 2 Have an average of a B grade. 3 Be active in all lines of Girls' club work. 4 Enter In class or school lit erary activities. 5 Be active in girls' athletics of the school. 6 Will he elected by a two thirds vole of the chili. 7 Must b? the best all-around girl in the school. Miss Knight is the ilauuhter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Knight, of this city, and has been active in musical circles of the city as well as in the high school. The cup w ill be presented to her on gradua tion night. The meeting opened witli the singing of America after which the pledge of allegiance to the flag was given. Mrs. John Turner of Bend, a former member, of Umpqua unit, who is now coming to make her home at Dixonville, was introduced and welcomed. Sewing for the Veterans' hospital was distributed among the mem bers present and the work com pleted during the meeting. Committee Reports Given The unit is sponsoring the an nual Easter Monday ball at the Oriental gardens on Monday night, April 21, and indications are that a large crowd will attend. Music will be furnished by the Melody Marvels and a prize waltz will be one of the special features of the evening. Mrs. Fred H. Mrs. Richard Busch, chairman of Roseburg Women's Club Holds Interesting Meeting Tuesday Afternoon The Roseburg Women's club met on Tuesday afternoon in the club rooms for the regular busi ness and social meeting. Mrs. A. G. McMillin, president, was in charge of the business session. Ot the many activities of the club, the service shop i3 one ot the most outstanding. The shop will continue being open each Satur day for several weeks. The money derived from the shop Is put into tne benefit runu of the club. A gallon of milk is being paid for each month for a needy Roseburg family. One of the most interesting pro grams of the year was enjoyed following the business meeting. Miss Vera McClintock sang two lovely solos, one entitled "Out Where the West Begins," and the other, "Snillin' Through." She was accompanied by Mrs. John McClintock, pianist. W. G. Paul, of South Deer creek, was the speaker of the afternoon and gave a splendid and very interesting talk on "Monuments." He began his talk from the beginning ot monuments up to the present time. Mr. Paul has traveled extensively and was able to make his talk real istic and of great interest to every one. Following the program the elec tion of delegates to the State Fed eration in Salem. Mav 12, 13, 14. 15. was held. Mrs. A. G. McMillin, president, will represent; the lo cal club, and Mrs. William Bell and Mrs. H. E. Coleman were elect ed as delegates of the club. In Japan and Korea there is a law prohibiting the sale of liquor to anyone under twenty-one years of age. In India there are 6.000 white ribhoners nnd less poverty through the efforts of the two or ganizations. France and Germany have come to realize the benefits of prohibition. Germany may soon go dry. In Belgium and Denmark much good work is being dor.e. Denmark has many fine women at the head of the organizations.
