Knoxville chancery court, whose
nomination for Interstate com
merce commissioner was sent to
the senate by President Hoover be- v

not accept, "even If confirmed by !
the senate.
The nomination of Chancellor
Jones, which met opposition from
severnl senators who contended
that his qualifications had not been
sufficiently established, was sent
to a committee of the senate for
further consideration.
I do not see how any man could
go on the commission." Chancellor
Jones said today, "and feel abso
lutely free and unembarrassed In
discharging his duties under his
oath, for he knows that however
righteous his decisions mny be, the
fiery wrath of some sections, class
or interests, is sure to fall unon
his head. I do not wnnt the place
under such conditions.
The chancellor Is a republican.
