With-, out hesitating a moment, I , race home to tell my wife what had hap pened to me. "You're late for din ner!" she said to me by way of Erroetine. She was a little dis turbed, you see, because i was usually very punctual. When I showed her the golden snipes, however, she became joyful. "Hut these are nothing compared with the watermelons' that abound in that magic garden," I told her. "One melon Is enough to make us so wealthy that we shall never have to work again." " 'Tiner-a-Ling.' she snid. 'To morrow 1 shall go with ynu to this magic garden. Wo shall put one of those golden watermelons Into my apron. How large did you sa they were?' "Very larue." I replied. The examination should include the following points: Test for vision: The Snellen card or Its equivalent should he used. Figure charts are to be used for children not knowing their let ters. A separate examination of the visual acuity of each eye should be made, a card or paper is used to cover the eye not being tested. ' Test for hearing: The rtatch test is to he used; each ear to ho tested separately. Test for defective nasal breath ing: The nasal passages should be cleared, each nostril to be test ed separately. The cause of the obstruction, if nny is found, is to be recorded. . Secondly symptoms as nasal catarrah or mouth breathing should he noted, the lat ter to be qualified as to whether due to (a) habit, or (b) obstruction of nasal jwssages. Examination for hyportrophled tonsils; A visual examination of the pharynx should be made using a tongue depressor. Examination tor defective teeth: Visual examinations of the Interior of the mouth should be mai!e. Un cleanliness, carles and malocclu sion must ho recorded. Determination of nutrition: The state of Hie nutrition is to be do terniined by taking Into considera tion the relation of height, weight and ago to one another. The state of tbo muscular tissues should he noted, and the color of the skin and mucous membrane must also be stated. The Cana dian National Steamship com pany's Canadian Mnrlner, bound from Montreal to London, collid ed with an unknown ship off Beaehy head, England, today In a dense rog. No Injured were ro ported. The Canadian Mariner was beachod at Dover for repairs after the collision. v The lifeboat searched the spot for the unknown ship with which the Cumidinn vessel collided but could find no trace of It. It was believed she was undamaged and had onnllnued on her voyage alt cr collision.
