A new fire broke out yesterday
near Kainer station. Fresno coun
ty. It wan curbed after it had cov
ered about 2'0 acres.
Two fires in the Santa Barbara
national forest were subdued last
night.
820,000 Loss at Kalama

Seven homes burned at Kalama.
Wash., near here, yesterday entail
ing a loss or $20,000. The flames,
fanned by a high wind, quickly
spread to nearby dwellings as It
started In the first one of a row.
The origin is undetermined.
Klamath Mill Burned
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore., July 5.
The Klamath Pine Lumber com
pany's plant was destroyed last
night, entailing a loss of 5100,000
when fire of undetermined origin
swept the plant. '
A Tavorable wind prevented the
fire from destroying the yards, but
the mil) had a capacity or 50,000
fr-et every eight hours. Lous la cov

NEW YORK. The country Js
getting air-minded, the American
Air Trans tiott Association finds.
Planes carrying passengers are
now making regular daily stops at
cities and are flying about 44,
om 0 miles every 24 hours. About 130
schedules are operating, and these
schedules take planes over lighted
air lanes 14,571 miles long, linking
:i" states. The verage fare is about
nine cents a mile.
