A large party of delegates and grange members came down from Myrtle Point after their business of the morning was finished and spent the afternoon and evening here. I AT IDLEYLD PARK, June 13. Some fine catches of cut h rout trout and jack salmon have been made at the North L'lupquu iu this vicinity during the past week, and fishing conditions are rapidly im proving. Fred Hawluy went out .Monday morning and brought in 14 trout, the smallest 12 inches in length and one live-pound jack sal mon. Numerous other campers had good catches to report also. Because of the rain it was im possible to hold the usual dance on j Saturday night, but the crowd gath iered at the store and put on an I impromptu program, including a group of songs by .Mr. rvoiuer una harmonica and jew sharp duets. Mr; Hawley set up drinks for all the performers.' Alias Margaret Can of Hoseburg brought her parents, who- are visit ing from Portland, to the resort over the week end. )r. Tollman, proprietor of ihe Itoosevelt Auto camp. Last .Monday Mi's. George Carl and daughter, Ada Carl of Carlton, Ore gon, arrived in Winchester liay on horseback. Mrs. Carl and daughter are returning to their home from a p Insure jaunt, which took them by way of the Pacitie highway, cross ing the Klamath river, continuing south as far as Yreka, California, and returning by the way of the Roosevelt highway. They will stop over in Waldport to visit Mrs. ! Carl's brother, E. G. Berry, before ; returning home. Mrs. Carl reports! the Willamette valley and Califor-j nia as having very warm weather. j With the exception of two nights; the women have slept In the open air while on their jaunt. Mrs. Carl and daughter estimate their trip around 1200 miles by the lime they -reach home. - t Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Tison of Cot-! tage Grove and Mr. and Mrs. L. Mr. and Mrs. Wfllfum Kickworth of Empire, stopped over night in Winchester Bay last Saturday while on their way to Corvallis to see their son, Lawrence Kickworth graduate from O. S. C. Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Howard and nieces, Bessie and Doris Kiuman, and nephew, Herbert Kinmuu,, all of Yoncalla, were among the week end pleasure visitors who stopped ut the Roosevelt Auto camp. William Lovelace, Warren P. Reed, and Jack Diehl of Reeds port and Pete Rico of Florence motored to Winchester Hay last Monday to meet the Eugene cara van who are motoring through from Coos Bay. Due to pressing business the lieed sport party after wailing for several hours motored pack j.o Reedsport witiiout seeing the Eugene caravan. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller and sou, Harold, spent the week end near Coquillu fishing. Mrs, Miller and sou went on to Portland where they will spend a few days visiting relatives, while Mr. Miller return ed to his home in Winchester bay to resume Jiis duties on the jetty. A. E. Shirtclitf returned to his home last Wednesday from the Keizer brothers hospital in North Bend. Mr. Shirtciiff is recovering from an operation. Aubrey and Joe Wisdom of Ash land arrived In Winchester Bay last Friday where they will spend ; their summer vacation with their uncle, Miles Stevens and family. Melvin Richardson left in Chester Bay last Thursday for Portland where he will visit bis bister, who is 111. Last Saturday a barn belonging to Floyd Lippincott caught fire. Mr. Lippincott, discovering tho fire soon after it was started rushed to the scene with plenty of water and soon extinguished the blaze. It was thought the fire was started by children playing in the hay with matches. T. E. Grae left last Monday ou a short business trip to his farm near Wilbur. C. Jensen of Elkton made a short business trip to this city last Mon day. Mr. Jensen reports a fire at Klkton when the post office and ad joining store caught fire and dam aged thebuildings considerably be fore the blaze Could be extinguish ed, last Sunday.
