The finding of narcotics in Mrs. Patty's apartment, seemed to the police to bear out an expressed suspicion of her husband, Frank Patty, that his wife had become addicted to the use of stimulants. He had previously told police of his I wife's ill health, adding that they : had resided in Los Angeles 'during several past winters on account of It. She had, Patty said, spent some time in Arizona for treatment of tubercular ailment, but Patly had understood, he said, that she had not suffered further symptoms, lately, and was apparently cured. New Evidence Found In their investigation of the rooming house apartment yester day police tabulated the following new asserted evidence:- A man's brown, blood spattered suit of clothes, bearing an Oakland trademark. The suit was found in a suit case, in which also was an Oakland newspaper dated May 18. Police suld Tallman was known lo have left Oakland May 19. Other artciles of apparel, a razor, shav ing brush and lotion were In the suitcase. Police said the shaving implements had yielded sharp sueclmeiis of fingerprints. Chief of Detectives Herman Cllne declared that the brown suit had been described by Mrs. ltoia Scott, mother of the dead woman, as be longing to Tallman. She was weU acquainted with Tallman, porice said. Principal's Past Life The lines of police Investigation reached into many sections of the country as they rounded up news paper details in the life of , Mrs. fatty. Mrs. Scott, the mother, now liv ing with a brother of the slain girl, Irving Scott, in Julesnurg, t;oio., is enroute to Los Angeles to give what aid she can to the police. Frank D. Patty, the husband, was graduated from the University of Nebraska in VJM. ne nan liveu formerly at Fonda, Iowa, with his father, a druggist there. William Tallman was born in Rock Island, HI., reports to the jo- lice here advised he had receive technical radio training in Berkeley and had been employed at various times in Oakland and Ban Fran cisco. Mrs. Patty had been married twice. Her first marriage occurred In Sioux City. Iowa, to Arthur J. Wlasmath. They had one daughter, Helen Dorothy, who now resides with her, lather and grandparents in Ixs Angeles. Mrs. Patty secured a divorce from Wlssmath and about, four years ago married Pally. It was learned that Tallman's relatives' in Oakland had retained Attor neys Thomas P. White and Vincent Hickson of Los Angeles, to handle his case. An inquest into Mrs. Patty's death has been set by Coroner Frank Nance for Friday. John R.
