few minutes later, crouched be

him. A search of Balliard's cloth

bat, a pistol, a short iron bar,
three colls of rope and a number
of cartridges.
The man was later identified as
a former inmate of the Michigan
state prison at Jackson where he
served a term for criminal assault.
A notebook found ill Balliard's

number of Detroit children and
their ages.

vice employes through their rep
resentatives today agreed to sub
mit their wage question to arbitra
tion. The request of the employes
is for approximately one dollar
a day increase.
The wago figure mentioned in

original demand and not tlio In
crease of 71 por cent granted by
arbitration on the eastorn roads.
It is about twice the eastern fig
ure .finally awarded. Approximate
