More than B00 civlliiins unci nbout 100 rebels nnd twenty French have been kill ed in a bombardment by the French forces of the Mlilan quarter of the city of Damascus, says a dispatch to the Dally Express. Three hundred homes were de stroyed. , The trouble began Mdy Gth when the Druse rebels attacked French military ppsts, killing or capturing 28 soldiers at Bob-Moussnilu. The French commander ordered a bombardment of the quarter, af ter giving the inhabitants an hour to'get outside the range of his guns. Either few people took ad vantage of the opportunity or the time was insufficient, shells, bul lets or falling houses killing more than six hundred persons, includ ing women and children. Before the bombardment 3,000 French troops surrounded the quar ter which had 80,000 inhabitants. They demunded that ' the inhabi tants surrender the rebels. Bue, 64, employe of the East Oregon Lumbering Com pany, was fatally injured at Enter prise, Ore., yeBterday when he fell from the mill tram to the dry kiln tram.
