OH (Aaorlatrd Tnm Leswd Wire.) WASHINGTON, Dee. 14 A dem ocratic Insurgent majority of the special house committee named to Investigate the shipping board to day reported for continuance of the board practically under existing condition. A minority report dis senting from that view will be filed. by the republican members. WASHINGTON. Dec. 14 The Shipping Board refused today to turn over to the War Department two of Us President type boats for transports. . The board held that It had none of that type of vessel In excess to I transfer to the Wsr Department land that It had no funds which 'could be applied to the building of such vessels for the department. I The departmental request and i reasons for It were the subject of ja resolution of Inquiry Introduced ! today by Chairman Jones of the j senate commerce committee. No 'action was taken at totlav'a session. I The views of the minority accord I with those of President Coolldge as set forth In his message to con gress and contemplates Independ ence of the Fleet forvorallon from the shipping board In the operation of vessels. The minority, consisting of three nrgsnliatlon republicans on the committee, also recommended some form of government financial aid to the Merchant Mnrlne and recommded that all existing trade routes be continued. ' Slsned hv the three democratic members and Representative Coop er, n-publlran. Wisconsin, the ma jority report opposed any effort to turn the Merchant Marine over to a cabinet member and concurred In the hoard's own Interpretation of Its powers and responsibilities. Operation officials, the report held, should be given a Tree hand" but j should be appointed by and ens Iwerable to the board. HOSPITAL U!D TO CRAZY PERSON (AanrlsM fnm Imni Win.) ' KALIRPELL. Mont.. Dec. 14. Authorities here are probing every available clew In the dynamiting of Sisters of Mercy hospital late Saturday, In an effort to capture the perpetrator. Although patients, nuraea and sisters of the order were endangered by the blast, no one was Injured, but the explosion smashed all the windows of the front part of the building and bad ly damaged the dining room. An Insane man touched off the fuse Is the theory of authorities. All night long a deputy sheriff stood guard last night over the hospital while the sister nurses I moved calmly through the wards, quieting the more nervous patients. Smoke from the smoking fuse of the dynamite charge led slaters of the hospital to Investigate the furnace, taking them out of the dln : Ing room and probably saving their lives when the explosion occurred. The .dynamite charge was placed on a' window sill of the dining 1 room. A portion of the fuse was ! discovered by police nearby and is j the main clew of the investigation. I Several convalescent patlenta were removed to their homes, but the majority remained In the hos pital. The report was heard over the entire city and caused consid erable alarm. . i . : p-r ... urge cupboara. just tne tning for canned fruit; a bargain at Powell's. , FRANCE FACING , UTTER RUIN 6F HER FINANCES (Continued from Page 1.) and voted. Tha committee would collabor ate with the flnlnre minister In framing financial decrees. These decrees would become effective without ratification bv parliament, which however, would be allowed to discuss them later In secret sessions.
