BUFFALO, N. Y., Dec. 8. The

pion of the world. Ha won -thti
judge' decision in a thrilling fifteen-round
battle with Jimmy
Goodrich, also of Buffalo, last uight
while spectators cheered In admir
ation of the stamina and aklU of
the man whom many regarded as a
"has been."
Kansas has had a hard climb In
his quest for championship honors.
Three times he met the great Ben
ny Leonard and tried to wrest the
championship and three times he
failed. But when Leonard retired
and through a series of elimination
congests Goodrich was chosen in
bis place last July, the rugged Kan
sas again saw visions of winning
the coveted title.
Spectators witnessed bis rushing
attack in the first halt of the bat
tle with a feeling that he could
not keep it up. But Kansas re
fused to weaken. Although the
young stalwart Goodrich opened
up a furious attack in the closing
rounds, the challenger refused to
take the defenslTe. Repeatedly he
slid his wicked lefts through Good
rich's defense to open up big cuts
about the eyes.
Blinded by blood, Goodrich bat
tered furiously at the body of the
veteran challenger. Kansas fought
back -and staved off defeat.
The Judges, who deliberated un
der the new round-by-round rule of
the state boring commission, ruled
that the challenger had won the
most rounds.

LONUON, Dec. 8. Slyles for

prince of Wale, decided to wear,

dashers of the west end had wait
ed after the prince returned home
from his South African and South
American tour for some new
novelty in cloths to show their
customers. In this they have been
disapp6inted.
The prince has worn nothing
new. Ho still sticks to the cloths
which ho had before he left on
his trip. . The designers kept a
watclirul eye for the prince's ap
pearance in a winter coat In the
hope ' ot something new. The
royal hoir, however, la wealing
last year's model.
Of necessity the haberdashers
have banded together and hired
designers to bring out some new
styles and patters independent of
the priuce. King George, the
Duke of York and Prince Henry
all dress much too conservatively
to give birth to any popular styles.
