were quietly married last night
about 9 o'clock at the Baptist
personage, Rev. H. L. Caldwell
officiating. The ceremony waa
attended by only the necessary
witnesses. They left today for
California to make their home.

garians attacked a Greek pout near

HOME DAMAGED BY
BAD ROOF FIRE
Fire of unknown origin last
night did considerable damage to
the Jack Roberts home in North
Hraehurz. Starting near the stove
in the living room ,the fire burned
upward through the celling ana
took off the upper part of the
frame auuclure. .The blaze was
quickly extinguished upon the ar
rival of the fire department, the
damage being confined largely to
the roof, although the lower part
of the dwelling waa considerably
damaged by water. The fire, occur
ring shortly before 1 1 o'clock In the
evening, attracted a huge crowd.

at the armory on Saturday, Oct.

A civil service examination for
forest ranger Is to be held at the
post office building on October 27,
according to word received this
morning by Forest Supervisor Carl
B. Neal. The examination will start

the men should take an active in
terest in the school affairs. Mr.
Butner outlined the fine work the
P.-T. associations are now doing,
especially locally, and declared
that they were invaluable to any
community.
Miss WIckham sang two beauti
ful solos for the club, accompanied
on the piano by Mrs. Arthur
Knauss. Roy Catcjiing won tho at
tendance prise, a crale of lusrlnua
grapes, awarded by Frank Middle
burg. The committees of the Kiwpnls
clubs made a report on their vlslla
to the Roseburg schools last week.
