upturns In the price of potatoes
have started several weeks earlier
this season than usual. A report
today by the t'nlted States bu
reau of agricultural economics
says this tituntlon Is largely due
to light crop, to an early har
vest In the northern states and to
big early shipments.
Pvetent conditions are almost
exactly opposite to those which
existed at the corresponding time
last year because of a large crop
of potatoes, then and heavy mar
ket supplies. Aa a result, aarked
northern white round potatoes,
are bringing nearly 12.50 a bo
shel wholesale In Chicago, com
pared with 0 cents a bushel In
1914.

vention of the Episcopal church
In the United States resumed Its
session here todsy after having
completed yesterdsy the most Im
portant business before It the
election of -Its first primate.
The new primate, who now la
the Most Rer. Gardner Murray,
succeeds the present presiding
bishop. The Mot Rev. Ethelbert
Talbor, Bishop of Bethlehem, and
will direct the executive and ad
ministrative decision of the
church as well aa occupying the
orrlce of primate, which takes
the place of the presiding hishop.
Bishop Murray was elected on
the fifteenth ballot after almost
a fuy day of balloting by the
House of Bishops, on a list of
eight nominees, which were let
ected Tuesday.
