monials by the Crow Indians Is a
charged with possession of nar-

Big Sheep explained that he Is a
leader of the congregation ot the
Native American church and that
the decoction from the buttons hi

the church. State and federal laws

of the district court, citing three
scriptural references which he al
leged aa his authority for posses

neighbors had heard no one in

could not have been responsible,

of Hymaa Huntley, former resi
dent of Dtllard. now held In Med
tord on charges of manslaughter
In connection with the death ot
his brother-in-law, J. J. Olbbs.

cording to County Judge George
K. Qulne, a personal friend of the
former resident of this covnty.
Judge Quins la taking a personal
interest In the case, and baa writ
ten Mr. Hunlley, promising him
such aid as he is able to give.
The county Judge has seen ac
quainted with Mr. Huntley for a
number of years and speaks very
highly ot him. The trouble which
led up to the stabbing affray In
which Glbbbs was killed, was told
to the Judge several weeks ago
by Mr. Huntley, who came to
Judge Qulne with a request for
advice regarding property inter
ests. At that time Huntley and his
wife were engaged in domestic
troubles for which tbe former
Dlllard man blamed his brother-
in-law. With a separation pend
ing Huntley . nought advice on
pronerty settlementa, expresaing
a desire to safeguard tne money
which he haa aaved up by years
of hard labor.
He was advised by Judge yuine
to hare a atralght talk with his
wire, and to endeavor to effect
a reconciliation with her, and
tailing in that to procure a di
vorce and have property rights
sdjusted in court.
Huntley, however, is snegea to
have become angered at Olbb'a at
tentions to Mrs. Huntley, ana s
stabbing affray resulted In which
