been quoted by the Southern
Pacific company, according to
Information received by L. B.
Moore local freight and paa-
senger agent. The L'mpqua
Chiefs are arranging for a
special train, with a minimum
of 125 ntres, and for this
train a rate of
15.35, for a
round trip ticket, baa been
quoted. The, rate la goon for
only one day. October 2. and
Is open to any residents of
the city who desire to make
the trip on the Chiefs' spe-
clal. The rate last year was
17.15 for the round trip, which
saves $225 on the train.
J. U Miller, alias Williams, a
drug addict, waa arrested Saturday
by Deputy Sheriff E. E. Leas, and
Deputy U. 8. Marshall Wells, and
was taken to Portland to answer to
a federal warrant charging him
with forgery. Miller has aerved two
terms at McNeils, and la a well
known character In Portland.
Deputy Sheriff Leas kaa been
watching Miller and a companion
for Bome time, and became con
vinced that they were drug addicts,
and that very probably they were
