(Continued from page 1.) The only airing on the agree ment is that tb city shall not TO TRAHF I ANin assess any pavlnn coata on the L newly acquired strip, to the abutting - property. . Mr. Creason statea that he baa already started plans to beautify the small park, which be desired to acquire to protect bis new building. As this park la directly In front of the new structure which he pro- he stntea that. It ter. Mr. Treason, owned what Is now known as Kinney's addition, a mill race running; lo the old Rast mill being Ute southern boundary of hi line, and the north line of Mr. Cord well's nronertv. that any new addition must connect I couid have been used in such up with the extension of some street already established. It was necessary for Mr. Creason to se cure a connection with Jackson street In order lo open up bis tract. To do this he traded to Mr. Card we! I a strip of land north of the mill race, and south of what is now Second Avenue South, for a triangular shape strip, which now forms the jntersectlon of Winches ter and Jackson streets and the small triangular park.' Jackson street was laid out nar row to its intersection with Second Avenue South, and then widened out. and when It was paved, was paved in two strips, with wide parking space In the center. The small triangular park in the Intersection of Jackson and Win chester streets was deeded to the city, and for many years has been the subject of beaut if icat ion pro jects, but nothing has ever been done to Improve it. It is evident from the trend of conditions, that Second Avenue South is soon to be a main artery, bearing heavy traffic to and from the eastern part of the county. As the intersection 1h narrow there is bound to be more or less conges tion, and a wider street la deemed advisable. Recently a fire destroyed the building which formerly occupied the space between Jackson and manner as to cause him much dam age in tiie future. He says that be does not expect to use the prop erty for commercial purposes, or ' to allow It to be used as such, but expect to make It a garden spot, and has already given the contract for ihj Improvement. The city will probably do noth ing to widen Juckson street at that point for the present time, but when conditions of traffic demand, the street can be straightened out, and a wide enough intersection pro vided to eliminate any congestion which may arine.
