Four of the regular players on the Christian team were absent, and a pick-up squad waa formed, which put up a fine exhibition of errors and ball-booting. The spectators were shown two good Innings, when both teams played airtight ball, a couple of double plays being pro vided as thrillers. From cover to cover It Is profusely Illu strated with fine half-tones, pic tures of the faculty members, In dividual photos of tire upper classman, and group pictures of the lower classes being presented, together with pictures of the ath letes, teams, clubs, and organiza tions of the school. Several pages of snapshots of students and school events are also contained In the annual. The publication Is divided Into several sections, each deullng with some separate diartmont of the school work or activity. Through out the entire book th'are are colortd Inserts which do much to add to the appearance. The staff struck upon a unique Idea In con nection with these Inserts, and upon each is printed some beuut Iful scene Douglas County. Tire Umpqua has been well pa tronized by Roseburg business and professional men and women, In an advertising way, the stu dents being given flire support In their effort to make the annual one of the best high school pub lications of the state. Tire members of The I'mpnua staff are deserving of much cre dit for their success In publish ing a book of such distinctive finality as Iho one which Is today being distributed.
