Jackson Strict VARIED MUSICAL PROGRAM TONIGHT A varied musical program with something of Interest to every one will be offered the public to-' night, starting with a concert in front of the i'mpqua Hotel by the Boys Band at seven o'clocj Two musical programs are offered to night, one at Ott's Music Store at eight o'clock including a number of talented musicians and readers and one by the Eastern Star Lodge at 8:45. The Eastern Star program was 'printed yestereay, and , one number was added today, a piano solo by Gordon V. Cook. Last nights attractions were well attended. The Heinline Conserva tory was crowded for the profes sional recital offered by the Music Teachers Association, the Heinline Conservatory orchestra entertained the theatre crowd at the Antlers ; Theatre, the lobby of the Grand Hotel was crowded to hear the ; Arizona Collegians orchestra, and two public dances, one at the Moose Hall by the Collegians orchestra and one at Rainbow Cardens by the Blue Devils, were well attend ed. The ' jury which tried Edgar Ulanchard, ; dismissed Portland pcliceman, on a charge of assault and battery In connection with a raid March 21 on the home of David Foulkes, re ported at 11 p. m. last night that It was hopelessly divided, and was 'discharged by Circnit Judge Skip worth. The policeman was charged wltb striking David Foulkes, Jr. I Ulanchard denied that be wilful , ly struck young Foulkes. He said, jthe blow was delivered as he was I trying to force the door, which was being held by the boy. Ulanchard said be apologized when be realis ed that he was attempting to enter the wrong home. The City will haul free all rubbish placed convenient ly along the curbs In proper con tainers within that time, but spe cial attention h ealleo to the fact , that It is necessary that all such rubbish be placed in Rood substan tial containers, either sacks or boxes, and If not so contained will not be picked up. The plans In their tentative form have been completed by Architect Gerow, and with all changed, decided upon by the board. Included in the specifi cations, it Is thought that the board will be able to pass upon the plans at the next meeting and advertise at once for bids for the construc tion. A special meeting was held on Tuesday of this week, for the purpose of Investigating applica tions for positions on the teaching staff next school year. CBptaln Itoald Amundsen, the Norwegian explorer today was presumably on the verge of starting his attempt to reach the North Pole by air plane. Cabled dispatches yesterday said the two planes of the expedition were preparing to . leave King's Day, Spitsbergen for the northern part ot the Archipelago from which the actual dash Is to be made, but further word Is lacking from the explorer's base from which com munication Is difficult because of Its remoteness.
