It u generally known that commercial trucks and but-tres cause more damuf,'e and Injury to the highways of the State of Ortgou, hich have been constructed at largo cost and ex pense to the taxpayers, than all other forms of transportation, and WHKllKAd, we believe. that said trucks and busses should be required to pay a reasonable charge for the purpose of repair ing in part, the great damage and injury that they are dolug to said highways, and W11KIU0AS, It is the concensus of opinion that the rates fixed by said House Hill 41:1 are fair, just and equitable, and should be paid by those who are using 'our ex pensive highways for commercial purposes, which said highways are only maintained by means of fees and special licenses and taxes, and WIIKItKAS, certain Interests are causing the circulation of petitions for the purpose of In voking the rtfereuilnm upon said House Hill 413 which would pre vent the same from becoming operative and effective until af ter November KG, which action would enublo bin and truck operators for commercial purpo ses to damage and Injure the highways of the Stute of Oretun for a period of two yeura, with out making Just compensation therefore or repairing the great damage and Injury which they are doing.
