VOSBURGH & WIARD Fancy Grocers Phone 5 I 5 ; It is noted in dispatches emanating at Klamath Falls that a move is 011 foot among sportsmen of that particular lociUity to request Governor Pierce to reinstate Ben Dorris as si member of the state fish and game commission, Mr. Dorris having just recently been dethroned by the governor, for reasons so far not divulged. It is also made known from the same source that should the governor refuse the request to reinstate Mr. Dorris that a recall will be directed at the governor. And, right here is where it is time to put on the soft pedul. This recall business is by no means a popular method of ousting men from public office. It has been made so for the very reason that wily politicians and un scrupulous fellows have worked the measure overtime fori selfish gains. You cannot employ the recall without good, sound and reasonable conclusions for carrying the measure into effect -unless it is plainly shown that an of ficial is crooked aid wholly unfit for public service. The mere fact that Governor Pierce has discharged a public of ficial is not sane grounds for invoking the recall. Not by a HARVARD LAMPOON UNDER SCRUTINY OF P. 0. DEPT. move. If you want to make the governor real popular there is no better or more comprehensive way of accomplishing the desired results than to hitch the recall to his coat tail. o Eugene Guard: Those who scoff at the maxim, "it pays to advertise," are inv.'ted to read the results of a 16-page advertisement inserted in The Guard by a Eugene grocery man, George C. Stanley, whose new store at Ninth and Olive is flow on the second week of its existence. Here is the rec ord of the store in its first G days: Business amounting to more than $1.1,000. Stock turnover 100 per cent. Doors locked on hundreds of customers Saturday afternoon because of inability to handle the crowd. Store jammed to capacity I every afternoon. "We are doing the greatest business I ev er saw in my life," says Mr. Stanley. "If we turned over the stock weekly, even on a one per cent margin, it would be profitable, as it would amount to 52 per cent a year on our investment," wrong. (AMorUted l're- Lrurd Wire.)
