FRAUD WIFE SAYS
Describing her husband as "23s j
pounds of gross misrepresenta
tion." Mrs. Esther A. Hainley was
granted a divorce today by Judge
J. W. Sunimerfleld from Charles
W. ilamley, said to advertise him
self as an American Indian and i
"memory expert," says the Los :
Angelas Evening Herald.
"Was he a false alarm?" asked
Judge Sunimerfleld of the wife. I
"I should say he was a false
alarm, she replied. 1
"Mrs. Ilamley declared her hus-1
band was of a roving disposition ,
and that she traveled about with 1
him to different places where she
said he sought to form classes of
individuals and teach them me
thods of increasing their effici
ency in memory.
"On on occasion, she declared
her husband left her stranded in '
Montana and she was forced to
sell her Jewelry to provide for
herself and then to telegraph to
relatives for money to return to
California.
"She asserted that he married
her solely for her money and
then spent it for her." .
Mr. Hamley, the so-called
"memory expert" concerned In the
case mentioned by the Los Ange
les paper, was ln Koseburg last
fall, and collected considerable
montty from local students in his
memory classes. He gave a series
of lectures and was in Roseburg
for several weeks conducting
classes.
