While much of the area has been rptf (Ifd to nrlnv wheat, the normally Hxhter yield of the HiirfiiK crop will tend to make the total wheat production for the Ktale ev n lower thun the liKhl crop of 1924. Mya P. L. Kent. Statistician of the l S. De partment of Agriculture. Whi.le the uhole effect of the whiter killing of fall trfeded wheat ha not yet heen determined. It seem probable that more than one-half of the Oregon acreage Heeded last fall ha be"en either reieedf-d to spring wheat or other spring sown crops. The condition or the remaining in probably the lowent In the history of large Hcale wheat growing in the statu, ; the percentaue figure being plac- eu at l i.u per cent or normal. Condition of the rnlu-d States rrop is placed at f8.7 per cent of normal, compared with Sa.u jer cent a year ago, and lh$ five year average of Si. 2 per cent. As suming an average abandonment (which- will probably be greater than average) Indications are that the production will amount to about 474.255,000 lmshelx, com pared with fjHO,o:J7,000 bushels a year ago, or a decrease of about 11(1.000.000 bushels. The five year average production Is 691,- ; 957.000 bushels, with an average April 1, condition of 81.2 per cent. Condition of the crop In some of the leading winter wheat producing states i as follows: .Illinois, 87.0 per cent; Nebraska. 6ti.0 per cent; Kansas. i:t.G per cent; Texas, 47.0 percent; Mon tana, 57.0 per cent; Colorado. ,87.0 per cent; Washington, 28.0 'per cent; Oregon, 55.0 per cent. I Soma one may inquire whether there is any particular relation between the April 1, condition ! and the final outturn at harvest i time. N. C Murray anf Chicago says there Is a fair degree of re- ! latlon between the April 1 condl- j tion and the final yield. Twenty five years records show that as the April 1 condition decreases the final outturn also decreases. j The lowest April 1, condition In ! the past twenty-five- years was fi:t.4 per cent. That year the abandoned acreage was also the highest, B 1.0 per cent, and the ; yield was only 10.4 bushels per i acre. The ry crop of tire state Is estimated to have a fi.VO per cent condition as of April 1. Kor the ; I'nfled States the condition In 84. 0, Indicating a poHslblo crop of i 1 .
