WASHINGTON. 'April 3. The condition of Secretary Weeks who is suffering from thrombrosis was described as "entirely satisfac tory" late today after his physician had concluded a thorough medical examination. WASHINGTON. April S. Secre tary John W. Weeks of the war department Is ill with thrombosis. The war secretary has been confined at h!s homo for several days but there has been no inti mation that he was seriously ill until his physicians today an nounced the cause. Dr. D. L. Hardin. Mr. Weeks' physician, Issued a bulletin today saying that the secretary on the morning of April 1 had a "throm bosis of one of the small branches of the middle cerebral artery." which had produced weakness of the muscles of the left arm, but thnt no other symptoms had re sulted. The statement added that Mr. Weeks should .be out " in a short time." Mr. Weeks, who is approaching his 64th year, has not been in ro bust health for some years. He re turned to his office early tnu week after a two week's vacation In Florida and subsequent visits In other southern states, lln appear ed at the time of his return ,to be enjoying improved health. ,,. . In the lntervRI since ne return ed he has been exercising his func tions as secretary of war. Papers dealing with important wnr de partment business still were being sent to his residence today for his consideration. Iiecause of his health, however, the war secretary In agreeing last month to continue as secretary of r In the Coo dee cabinet, uin so with the understanding that he would return to private life If Bis physical condition at any time re quired a lessening of physical ex ertion.
